Fernando Alonso seeks talks with FIA president over bias claim

6 months ago By Sports Desk

Famous Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso is raising questions about what he sees as a national bias in recent F1 stewarding decisions. Alonso expressed his concern after being involved in controversial incidents during the most recent races.

In an effort to address these concerns, Alonso is seeking direct talks with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The Aston Martin driver believes it is essential to ensure that racing decisions are made impartially and are not influenced by factors such as nationality.

In particular, Alonso highlighted an incident during the sprint race in Miami where Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton forced Alonso off the track, leading to contact with his teammate Lance Stroll. Alonso and other observers felt Hamilton deserved a penalty for his aggressive manoeuvre, but the stewards’ investigation led to no disciplinary action against the British driver.

This situation raised concerns about the possibility of anti-Spanish bias in the commissioners’ decisions. Alonso expressed his desire to ensure that there are no injustices based on nationality and that this does not negatively affect Spanish riders in the future.

In addition, the Spanish driver emphasized the importance of protecting not only himself, but also future generations of Spanish drivers who could follow in his footsteps in F1. He is determined to take up the matter directly with the FIA president to ensure that all drivers are treated fairly and equally.

Alonso also received support from fellow drivers and members of the F1 community, who recognized the importance of ensuring race decisions are made objectively and without bias.

It is essential that the integrity of the sport is maintained and that riders feel confident that they will be treated fairly, regardless of their nationality. Alonso’s proposed talks with the FIA president are a positive step towards a fairer and more transparent racing environment.

As the Formula 1 season continues, eyes will be on any further developments in these talks between Alonso and the FIA president. It is hoped that these talks will help clarify concerns and ensure that F1 remains an environment where all drivers can compete on a level playing field.
