Fernando Alonso to Aston Martin: “Work Harder, Talk Less” After Spanish GP Struggles

4 months ago By Sports Desk

Fernando Alonso has made no secret of his frustration with Aston Martin’s recent performances in Formula 1, particularly after a disappointing showing at the Spanish Grand Prix. The team left Barcelona without scoring any points, which highlighted a significant drop in form, despite the introduction of several significant updates to the car.

Alonso, an F1 veteran known for his determination and clarity of vision, was blunt in his assessment of the weekend. “I’m a little disappointed because we didn’t score any points. We deserved to score no points because we didn’t have any rhythm throughout the weekend,” Alonso told media outlets, including Crash .net. “In the race it was extremely difficult. When you slide so much in the corners you also destroy the tires. So you have two problems: you have no rhythm and you have a lot of degradation. All this made very long race for us. We have to improve.”

The Spaniard also expressed concerns that Aston Martin’s difficulties could continue in the upcoming races, with Austria and Silverstone in the offing. “It’s frustrating, but there’s nothing you can do now, so you start thinking about Austria immediately after seeing the checkered flag and what you can do different,” Alonso said . “But I think it will also be painful because there are similar characteristics to Barcelona, with the long corners. It will be another difficult weekend, also at Silverstone, possibly.”

For Alonso, the solution is clear: less talk, more action. “We can’t get too frustrated. It’s time to work more, talk less and deliver more. That’s what we want to do.”

Aston Martin currently sits fifth in the F1 Constructors’ Championship, with 44 points, 20 points ahead of RB. However, the performance gap compared to stronger competitors is becoming evident, and Alonso is pushing for the team to find solutions quickly to avoid further setbacks.

Alonso’s message reflects not only his dissatisfaction with the current situation, but also his belief in the team’s ability to improve. His call for a concentrated and effective effort highlights the urgency of transformation within the team. With two tough consecutive Grands Prix ahead, Aston Martin will need to respond to its main driver’s criticism with concrete actions and performance improvements if it is to turn its luck around this season.

Alonso’s call for hard work and less talk is a call to action, a demand for everyone on the team to focus on what is needed to return to a high level of competition. Aston Martin’s ability to answer that call could well define the course of the rest of their season.
