24 Hours of Le Mans LIVE UPDATES!

5 months ago By Sports Desk

The 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans started with great enthusiasm and has already brought a lot of excitement and challenges to the teams and drivers. The race, which is one of the most iconic and prestigious in the world of motorsport, is characterized by intense battles and conditions.

Porsche secured first place with car #6, while last year’s winner Ferrari took third and fourth place with cars 51 and 50, respectively. A special mention goes to MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, who competes in Team WRT’s #46 BMW, which starts the race in 51st place out of 62 cars.

Climate Challenges

The weather conditions were a major challenge, with periods of intense rain leading to several safety car interventions. The race had an approximately four-hour yellow flag period due to heavy rain, but action resumed when the rain cleared. Currently, the #8 Toyota, driven by Ryo Hirakawa, leads the hypercar category. Jenson Button, with the #38 Hertz Jota team, is currently in sixth position.

Visible accidents

One of the critical moments of the race was an accident involving Robert Kubica, who collided with the #15 BMW, causing significant damage. However, Kubica remains in the lead in the #83 Ferrari. Another highlight was the retirement of the #36 Alpine car, driven by Mick Schumacher, after an accident, leaving the team with just one car in the race.

Valentino Rossi and BMW #46

Valentino Rossi, in his first experience at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was driving well until his car collided with an LMP2, resulting in a slide and a possible penalty. Prior to the incident, the #46 car was leading the LMGT3 class. Unfortunately, a crash before midnight ended Rossi’s hopes of winning the class.

Tire strategies and changes

The teams faced a big challenge in choosing the right tires due to the changing weather conditions. Both Ferrari works suffered from being left on dry tires in the heavy rain, costing them precious time.

Current rankings

Hypercar: The #83 Ferrari, driven by Robert Schwartzman, leads by 20 seconds over the #50 Ferrari.
LMP2: The #10 Vector Sport car is on top.
LMGT3: The BMW #46 WRT car was leading before the incident.

Expectations for the next few hours

With unpredictable weather conditions and frequent accidents, the race remains open and full of possibilities. Teams continue to battle for victory, and fans can expect plenty of twists and turns leading to the checkered flag. The coming hours promise more drama and excitement in this legendary endurance test.

Stay tuned for more live updates from the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, a competition that continues to capture the imaginations and hearts of motorsport fans around the world.
