Speculation Emerges: Marquez to Join Red Bull in 2025?

7 months ago By Sports Desk

As the MotoGP season gets under way, speculation is rife about the future of six-time premier class champion Marc Marquez. According to the latest news, there are rumors that Marquez could join the Red Bull team in 2025, leaving Ducati and moving to another MotoGP manufacturer.

Marquez currently has a one-year contract with Gresini Racing, so he became a free agent at the end of the season. Although they have left open the possibility of Marquez returning to Honda, the chances seem remote given the team’s performance in Qatar and the excellent performance of Gresini Racing.

The factory Ducati team is considered a more realistic outcome for Marquez, especially since he has already re-signed two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia. However, to prevent talented Spanish rider Jorge Martin from moving to another manufacturer, Ducati must promote him to the seat currently occupied by Enea Bastianini.

With all these variables, KTM Marquez appears as a possible destination in 2025. Although Red Bull KTM Team member Francesco Guidotti downplayed the possibility of Marquez switching to KTM, highlighting the rider’s good performance with Ducati, speculation continues to grow.

Pedro Acosta, considered by many to be the “next Marc Marquez”, recently made his MotoGP debut, suggesting that KTM is willing to bet on young talent. However, the team faced a dilemma: in 2024, they signed five drivers for just four spots, which was resolved by relegating Pol Espargaro to reserve status.

While there is a possibility that KTM’s parent company, Pierer Mobility Group, could buy another team or link up with satellite teams to expand its presence in MotoGP, the team’s management indicated they are happy with the current four-rider line-up.

Jack Miller, who is out of contract this year, could remain safe for the wider KTM line-up, although comments from KTM motorsport director Pit Beirer do not completely rule out the possibility of a trade with Acosta to GasGas team Tech3.

With the MotoGP season continuing and speculation surrounding Marquez’s future, fans are anxiously awaiting further developments that could clarify the Spaniard’s fate in 2025.
